About Amanda
I grew up in the Midwest and attended college at the University of Iowa, before making the move to Austin to attend graduate school at The University of Texas. I then spent several years gaining experience in the field of counseling as I worked in local schools with Communities in Schools, and at adolescent and adult behavioral health treatment centers, including the Seton DBT Intensive Outpatient Program and the Eating Recovery Center, before moving into private practice. I draw from an eclectic mix of clinical approaches including modern psychoanalysis, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness to deliver personalized interventions to my clients. Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating are integral perspectives in my work with body image and integrated health. My continued education is of the utmost importance to me! I attend therapeutic trainings and consultation weekly and clinical workshops regularly. I have extensive experience working with eating disorders, anxiety and depression management, and life transitions. I enjoy working with adults, college-age students and adolescents. In my free time, I can be found practicing yoga, reading novels, and traveling with my son and my partner. I thoroughly enjoy my work as a therapist, and look forward to continuing to learn, expand, and grow as a clinician for the duration of my career. I bring compassion, humor, and directness to my work and meet clients wherever they may be on their journey toward personal growth. I love building close relationships with my clients and I aim to create a space for open communication that fosters safety and progress toward my clients’ goals. I’d love to get to know you!
